Hi everyone! Belletristics' website got a bit of an update over the weekend- nothing too drastic on the layout side, just a little freshening up. I'm also getting ready to launch a set of brand new designs this spring, and to make room some of the older designs have been retired. (Although they are no longer shown on our website, Bliss, Cheers, Dearest, Divinity, Harmony, Serendipity, Refreshing, and Whimsy are still available upon request)

Ambrosia, Besotted, Delight, Hope, Elation, Euphoria, Smitten, Splendid, and Zen are all still featured on the website. They each have had a little mini-makeover, so be sure to head over to Belletristics to check out their new looks.

We've also added a new category of designs: photo thank you cards!

Belletristics' color chart and font guides have been updated for 2012, so please make sure to use the latest version when placing an order.

Palm Tree Invitation Suite for Christina and Christopher

Christina and Christopher absolutely loved the palm tree themed invitation suite I created for Stacey and Caleb, and requested a similar design for their April wedding.
We switched up the invitation a bit by changing the orientation and adding a border, and also included a custom map and directions card.

The First-Ever Minted Art Print Challenge

Minted recently held their first ever design contest for art prints. They asked designers to create artwork they'd like to display in their own homes, and given my love of ampersands I knew right away what I'd like to do.

And per se is made up of hundreds of ampersands, arranged so that there is a blank space in the middle in the shape of an ampersand. It took a ridiculous amount of time creating this design, but I love the way it turned out!

Custom Welcome Bag Printables for Courtney and Cameron

Earlier this year, Jen, of SoCo events, ordered a few custom designs to use in welcome bags at her client's wedding.

We started off with a custom monogram featuring the couple's first initials intertwined and embellished with a subtle flourish. From there we moved on to custom drink flags, also featuring the monogram and calligraphy inspired swirls, along with a custom water label and welcome label for the front of the bag.

Real Weddings: Kathleen and Sergio

Last fall, I had the pleasure of working with Kathleen on a variety of stationery designs for her wedding! She was planning for an old Hollywood/movie themed wedding, and each piece of her wedding stationery reflected that theme.

Her invitations were designed to resemble a vintage movie poster, the ceremony program was inspired by the credits at the end of the movie, and her seating chart featured a silhouette of Grauman's Chinese Theatre!
So when Kathleen sent me a few photos of the wedding, I was definitely excited to share them here!

Today I have a few color combination options for designs from the Refreshing suite!

Tasha and Edwin choose the cool, water inspired hues of slate and pool for their wedding invitation and rsvp card.

Melissa and Alex chose a custom green and gray color palette for their menu and escort card designs! They also asked to leave out the sea horses in the design, which I was happy to do! (This is a common request for designs from the Refreshing suite- keep in mind I can remove motifs or other elements from any design for no extra charge)

Joey chose a fun and bright combination of lime, fuchsia, and navy for her wedding invitation and rsvp card!

Erin and Martin went with plum and mustard for their wedding reception stationery.

Mix and Match Stationery for Fiona and Robert

Fiona ordered a Mix and Match invitation suite for her March wedding! Pale pink and steel paired with vintage inspired fonts and blossoms made for a subtly rustic and romantic design.

The invitation design featured an all over pattern along with a large version of the couple's chosen motif, blooms from a dogwood tree. The address label was designed similarly, but we used an oval frame to block off the areas for the return address and mail to address.

For Mary and Matthew's reception stationery we used two different blue shades, Denim and Carolina, for some subtle contrast.

Shannon and Jason chose Merlot and Black, with a few gray accents, for their wedding invitation.

And Katie requested an elegant combination of Gold and Ballerina pink for her table numbers and water bottle label.

Custom Invitation Suite for Sarah and Felix

The invitation featured the couple's monogram along with a mix of delicate script and boldly striped engraver's fonts. The response card design mimicked the look of the invitation, and coordinating address designs for the outer and RSVP envelopes, along with a striped envelope liner, completed the suite.

Continuing with the ready made design color combination series, today I have a few different color options for the Cheers stationery suite!

To start, we have Jennifer and Daniel's invitation and response card in raspberry and black.

Next is Jennifer and Robert's invitation, response card, and belly band, shown in all eggplant. The contrasting dark background of the belly band really makes this design pop!

Kelly choose to do a solid citron colored background with white pattern for her designs! We also incorporated her second wedding color, navy, in the text and border.

And finally, we have Jessica and Peter's table number and escort card. Their softer color palette of cornflower and steel really gives the Cheers designs a softer feel!

Today I'm sharing a few different color customizations of designs from the Bliss Suite!

First we have Kasia and Magnus' menu and table number, shown in all Citron. The Bliss designs look so fun and fresh in this great shade of green!

Next is Leslie and William's invitation and RSVP, in gray and a lovely rich purple. So elegant and regal!

Maura and Dennis chose to go with all black for their dinner menu and photo booth sign! Black and white always gives such a classy and formal feel to any design.

Last but not least, Amanda and Clayton chose a combination of Ballerina and Silver for their wedding invitation and RSVP card. Theses lighter, more feminine colors lend a romantic feel to the designs!

Ready Made Seating Chart Designs

Lately, I've been getting quite a few requests for seating chart designs. I've always offered them on the Belletristics' website, but until now I hadn't gotten around to introducing them here or adding them to the Etsy shop. Well, at long last, here they are!

Seating charts are a great alternative to escort cards. Rather than having a separate card for each guest, a seating chart allows you to prominently display the seating assignment for your reception.

They also work well when used with place cards; the seating chart would direct your guest to their table, and the place card (which would be placed at table) will mark their seat.

The names can be arranged alphabetically or by table, and a list of the members of your bridal party could also be included.

Seating chart sizes can be changed to accommodate your needs, as long as the design retains its orientation and overall shape.

Because of the large size of these designs, using a professional printer is necessary. Generally, you'll have the design printed as a poster, then mount on foam board or have the seating chart framed.

Plan ahead to save yourself the stress of putting together your seating plan at the last minute. Seating charts often end up being a last minute item, so make sure to check with your printer for their turn around times (some can have the chart ready as quickly as 1-2 hours; other printers may require up to a week to have the design ready)

Besotted: color combinations

Recently I've been working on a lot of ready made invitation orders, and it's always fun to see the different color combinations chosen! I thought it would be nice to share some of the different color options here, since I know it can be hard to visualize an invitation in pink, when the sample design is blue!
Today I have a few different customizations of the Besotted invitation and rsvp card.

First up is a version in Plum and Black! Amanda also customized the wording on the rsvp card, choosing to go with the phrase "We look forward to celebrating with you" for the title. The darker plum color, paired with black definitely adds a regal feel to the design!

Next up is Brittany and Kelley's invitation in Rose and Steel. So lovely and romantic!

Melissa and Andre chose a combination of Citron and Black - I love how the green really pops in this design!

And finally, we have Patricia and Austin's invitation in Powder and Plum. Using Plum for the text, rather than a standard black or brown, adds an unexpected and fun touch of color! Patricia also chose to customize her rsvp card to a portrait layout.

Mix and Match Invitation for Marisol and James

Custom Palm Tree Invitation Suite for Stacey and Caleb

Earlier this year I worked with Stacey and Caleb on a save the date design for their destination wedding in Key West. They were so much fun to work with the first time around, I was excited to help out again when it came time for their wedding invitations.

We continued the vintage feel throughout their wedding stationery using a gorgeous palm tree illustration paired with calligraphy inspired script. In place of a traditional rsvp card, Stacey chose to do a vintage postcard style layout, complete with a "postmark" monogram!

This week I'm introducing the Hope printable stationery suite! Hope is an elegant and romantic design with delicate lace inspired embellishments and a sweet script font.

Branded Designer for Indigo Prints

I'm happy to announce that I was recently selected to be a branded designer for the stationery company, Indigo Prints! If you haven't heard of them, Indigo Prints is a relatively new online stationery shop, offering invitations, cards, and announcements for life's most important occasions.
